DPL, CDA Join Forces To Host A New Chinese Online League

Online league organizers are returning in full force this month due to the cancellation of major league events. Promoting the trend and expanding the reach of online esports entertainment, Dota Professional League (DPL) and Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association (CDA) joined forces to keep the Chinese Dota 2 alive amid the ongoing pandemic.

Mars Media, founder and organizer of DPL, spearheaded the partnership. In an official announcement, the organizers emphasized that the main goal of the partnership is to focus on player training: “We, at Mars Media, are very excited to team up with the CDA. Our experience at hosting tournaments and leagues will allow the teams to fully focus on the matches and performance and get the proper training they need for the upcoming LAN events which we hope will resume sooner rather than later.”

Partnership Terms

DPL has been in the esports events industry and part of the markets of Dota 2 betting sites for years now. It’s currently the longest-running Dota 2 league in China. CDA, meanwhile, is responsible for promoting and forming the likes of Vici Gaming, LGD Gaming, Invictus Gaming, Team Aster, Royal Never Give Up, EHOME, Newbee, and Keen Gaming. When the league debuted in China and brought powerhouse players internationally, the region became a force to be reckoned with.

The DPL Season 7 (2020), which is supposed to start today, is already cancelled. But the CDA league is still ongoing and other powerhouse teams are still competing at ESL One Los Angeles. Hence, the partnership and the combined league from the two organizers, DPL-CDC, will come into effect after the ongoing season of the CDA league concludes on April 19. CDA will completely cancel its league and form a new one.

Aside from the actual league, DPL-CDC has other plans. The league goes beyond hosting competitive tournaments. The two organizers are hoping to bring a healthy, competitive environment in the Chinese Dota 2 scene. The joint forces of DPL and CDA aim to give favorable schedule plans to professional players and high-quality viewing experience to fans.

The complete tournament details for the league have yet to be announced. Mars Media promised to release more details about the league in the coming days.
