Plasma1337x Suspended By Beyond The Summit Over Rant Video

Esports production company Beyond the Summit (BTS) suspends North American Dota 2 team Plasma1337x from Dota 2 Summit Online 13 following a “derogatory message” posted by the team’s manager.

Plasma1337x’s manager recently posted a 90-second rant video targeting beastcoast’s players, one of the team’s opponents. While the video has since been deleted and Plasma1337x’s various social media channels are already down, mirror versions and copies of it are circulating online.

In the video, Plasma1337x’s manager complained about the South American players’ lowered expectations and reported pay and their negative effects on Dota 2’s competitive play.

“We play vs beastcoast today in Beyond The Summit summit 13 with beastcoast using cheap South American labour against us,” the manager said.

Plasma1337x was 0-0-3 at Summit Online 13 when the video was posted. They were scheduled to play beastcoast in the final fixture of the tournament on October 25. However, due to the video and its “derogatory message”, organiser BTS awarded beastcoast the win and suspended Plasma1337x from the tournament.

In a series of tweets, BTS announced its decision, saying: “The organization of one of our participants posted a derogatory message regarding an opponent on social media. We consider this conduct harmful to both our event and the Dota community. Dota is a global game full of players from diverse backgrounds. We do not tolerate such conduct, especially in direct relation to our tournaments. As a consequence, Plasma will be suspended for their series today and Beastcoast will receive a default win for the series.”

Plasma1337x accepted BTS’ decision and said that their organization will leave the esports scene permanently. One of the team’s players, ‘lukiluki’, announced on Twitter that the team would no longer associate themselves with BTS and apologized to beastcoast for their team manager’s actions.

Following the fiasco, Lukiluki and the rest of his teammates from Plasma1337 will now play as No Pangolier. The former team is now dissolved, but it’s still unknown whether or not No Pangolier will play Plasma1337x’s remaining Summit Online 13 matches.

Summit Online 13 is still ongoing and will run until November 2, 2020. The tournament features professional players from Europe/CIS, Southeast Asia, and the Americas.
