The New Team Liquid Roster Bags First Title At ESL One Germany
European Dota 2 squad Team Liquid won its first trophy with its new roster after upsetting ESL One Germany. Despite several complaints after suspicious activities, the tournament pushed through without any other major hiccups. The winning team prevailed against CIS team Natus Vincere in the grand finals, concluding the tournament with a 3-1 score.
Team Liquid’s victory marks the first Dota 2 Major title for team captain Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi and his team that have been together for years before signing for a new franchise. They didn’t just simply win the event, they emerged victorious against powerhouse teams like Nigma, Vikin.gg, Team Secret, mudgolems, and grand finalist Na’Vi.
“I think a lot of times in the past we have been playing with a fear of losing…But we finally overcame that hump and decided to just play to win. That was the biggest thing I think made our games feel a lot easier and made it feel like we had a better idea of what to do,” iNSaNiA said in a post-game interview.
In the same event, iNSaNiA was given the Mercedes-Benz ESL One Germany MVP award for helping his team win the title. He’ll surely lead them to more victories in other upcoming Dota 2 events next year.
When Team Liquid took down mudgolems, they secured a spot in the grand finals of ESL One Germany 2020 to face Na’Vi. Na’Vi had an impressive run in the playoffs and group stage. They even defeated Team Liquid in their first meeting, ending the best-of-three series with a 2-1 score. However, the European team is determined to take their sweet revenge in the grand finals.
Entering game 1, we witnessed a massive stomp as Liquid immediately pinned their opponents to the ground. They ended the first round with a total of 5 kills and 31 strikes over a half-hour brawl.
In game 2, Liquid once again started on the offense side. They directly approached Na’Vi’s lineup, forcing the members to leave the team in the dust. It was over before the action even started.
Feeling the pressure, Na’Vi went into game three with a completely different strategy. iNSaNiA got his Oracle banned again, so his team was at a disadvantage. Na’Vi successfully executed a much better laning phase and ended the third game with ease.
Na’Vi brought themselves a step closer to a comeback. However, they weren’t able to capitalize on their huge mistakes in the fourth game. Liquid’s miCKe managed to follow the gold and trigger a 24-minute team fight that killed five of Na’Vi’s heroes. In the end, Liquid emerged victorious.
