Virtus.Pro's New Roster Wins EPIC League Division 1

Virtus.Pro’s new roster, which composed of players from VP.Prodigy, dominates EPIC League Division 1. The winning CIS team defeated two-time The International champion OG Esports to claim the title and the lion’s share of the $200,000 prize pool.

Tournament Recap

Virtus Pro had an overall dominant performance, giving them the upper hand across Bitcoin Dota 2 odds markets. The team finished first place at the group stage with a 7-2 score heading into the playoffs. They swept Team Secret and Viking.GG before facing OG in the grand finals. It was OG who gave them a taste of defeat in some of their matches.

OG, meanwhile, struggled to make it to the playoffs after falling to the lower bracket. Team Liquid nearly eliminated them from the competition, but Johan “N0tail” Sundstein managed to pull OG together until the finals.

With two strong teams, the grand finals saw a back and forth affair between Virtus.Pro and OG. Virtus.Pro dominated game one at a 47-10 advantage, but OG even the tally at 1-1 with a 31-17 win in game two.

Game three disrupted both teams’ momentum. Virtus.Pro was protecting their early lead before OG turned the tides. OG managed to corner Virtus.Pro and close the game in just 18 minutes. At this point, OG was only one win away from taking the title.

Both teams were under pressure in games 4 and 5, two of the longest games in the series. Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko carried Virtus.Pro with two fantastic matches, courtesy of his combined 28/2/22 for over 83,000 hero damage on Ursa and Phantom Assassin. Assisting Egor was Illias “illias” Ganeev who dropped two excellent performances with his Omniknight and Undying.

OG tried to recover from both games with the help of Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and his Puck performances, but that wasn’t enough to shake Virtus.Pro. In the end, the winning team closed out the series with an overall 3-2 score.

This victory gives VP their first tier-one title since winning the Kuala Lumpur Major in 2018 and their highest placement since ESL One Los Angeles Online earlier this year.
